Introducing the 2022 V.I. Jaguars Small Fry Basketball Team

Spring 2022 - ​​The Small Fry Puerto Rico Basketball Association made the difficult decision to cancel the 2022 Puerto Rico Small Fry Invitational Tournament. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Puerto Rico, as of this writing, is still under severe COVID-19 restrictions that would have made having the tournament impossible.  Caribbean Rose agrees with their decision. The health and safety of its players will always come first.

Fall 2021 - ​​The Small Fry Basketball Association has set a tentative date for the 2022 Small Fry Basketball International Tournament. The 2022 Small Fry Basketball International Tournament will be held tentatively on April 11 - 14, 2022 at Disney's Wide World of Sports Center in Orlando, Florida. Small Fry International currently has dozens of Small Fry Basketball Teams throughout the United States, Caribbean, & Latin America. All 50 states and territories. If the V.I. Jaguars Basketball Team is unable to attend the tournament we will announce it on this website and on all Social Media platforms.

Fall 2021 - ​​NBE, in conjunction with Caribbean Rose would like to let the community know that there may not be a 2022 Small Fry Basketball season. The world is still being affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic. It would be irresponsible for our organization to hold tryouts and practices during this time. If anything changes we will let the community know. Even if the team wanted to hold practices and travel to compete with other teams restrictions imposed by the local government make this impossible to do at this time. The Small Fry Basketball Association currently has dozens of Small Fry Basketball Teams throughout the United States, Caribbean, & Latin America currently being affected by this pandemic.

2015 Small Fry Paradise Showdown March 13 - 15, 2015

March 2022 - ​​Caribbean Rose is proud to announce that the V.I. Jaguars Basketball Team will be traveling to Gatlinburg, Tennessee to participate in the 2022 Small Fry International Basketball Tournament being held on April 11 - 14, 2022. Small Fry International currently has dozens of Small Fry Basketball Teams throughout the United States, Caribbean, & Latin America. Stay tuned for more information.

In a unique crosstown title matchup, Ponce Constancia won its fourth championship with a 42-39 decision over Ponce Lomas, as Sebastian Lezcano hit a trio of threes to lead the way with 15 points. Fernando Gonzalez topped Lomas with 14 points.


Marquette Best toppled Robert Taylor in an all-Windy City third-place matchup and Chi-Town NBN claimed the consolation championship. Longtime officer Moe Reed had his name attached to the Friendship Tournament (won by BNB Outlawz) and first-time participant Colombia, South America earned the Friendship Sportsmanship Award.


The VI Jaguars upset the solo Pirates from Chicago, 48-43, in their first international tournament game. The Pirates were last year's champions. The Jaguars lost to Ponce Lomas of Puerto Rico, who advanced to the championship. St. Thomas lost the game, 40-32, and lost to ABB from Puerto Rico, 63-59. In the seventh-place game, the Jaguars won the game with a 46-22 victory against Chicago Heights. Some of the younger players, such as Nekwante Sprauve and Khamani Olivacca, scored in the final game. Overall, team captain Jourdyn Rawlins scored 61 points and added 29 points, 20 steals, five blocked shots and 13 assists in the tournament.

Shakeem Sackey had 30 points and six steals while Jahsief Benjamin had 39 points, 22 rebounds, eight assists and seven steals. Zayd Brannigan had 26 points, 23 rebounds, eight assists, and eight assists, and De'Shamoi Greaves had 38 points and eight steals. The Tournament concludes today with the final games. Overall the VI Jaguars placed seventh at the tournament.  


The tournament featured teams from the US, Caribbean, and Columbia. Meanwhile, the Positive Guidance team from St. Croix did not advance to the international tournament but instead played in a consolation bracket.

Small Fry International currently has dozens of Small Fry Basketball Teams throughout the United States, Caribbean, & Latin America that will compete in the Tournament. March 16, 2022 - ​​Just as a reminder: The VI Jaguars Basketball Team won the 2022 Small Fry Paradise Showdown held on March 11 - 13, 2022. Here is a summary of the tournament courtesy of the Virgin Islands Daily News:

The St. Thomas Jaguars completed an undefeated run in tournament play over the weekend to win the Paradise Showdown Small Fry Basketball tournament, held at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School gymnasium on St. Thomas. The Jaguars won both of their round-robin games, beating Chicago 35-33 on Friday night and the St. Croix All-Stars 43-35 on Saturday afternoon. The Jaguars then defeated Chicago again in the tournament’s championship game Saturday night, winning 50-43. February 2022 - ​​Caribbean Rose is proud to announce that it will be hosting its annual tournament, the  Small Fry Paradise Showdown, on March 11 - 13, 2022. The tournament will take place at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School gymnasium. Please come out and support the Jaguars as they take on top teams from St Croix, Chicago, and Wisconsin. Stay tuned for more information. 

Fall 2021 - ​​Until local COVID-19 Pandemic restrictions are lifted Caribbean Rose cannot host the 2022 Small Fry Paradise Showdown. The health and safety of its players should and will always come first. Hopefully Caribbean Rose will be able to host the 2023 Small Fry Paradise Showdown next March. If anything changes we will let the community know.  ​

2022 Small Fry Paradise Showdown


​March 14, 2022 - Caribbean Rose is proud to announce that the 2022 V.I. Jaguars Basketball Team won the 2022 Small Fry Paradise Showdown. This was the first tournament that the Jaguars played since the Covid-19 Pandemic. The 2015 VI Jaguars Basketball Team

The VI Jaguars won the 2015 Positive Guidance Tournament. The Jaguars won all five of its games. In game one, Jourdyn Rawlins scored 14 points, with 5 assists. His teammate, Jahsief Benjamin, scored 10 points. In the second game, Zayd Brannigan had 13 points and Benjamin scored 8 points. By the third game, Rawlins scored 23 points, Benjamin 9 points, and Jaalen Roberts 10 points. In game four, De'Shamoi Greaves had 16 points, with 6 steals. His teammate, Roberto Tapia scored 9 points. In the final game, Jahsheem Dawson had 18 points, JahFari Samuel had 12 points, and Khamani Olivacce had seven points.

Locally, the government has lifted almost all Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions. Making it possible to play a shortened season. Listed below are all canceled events that were planned at the beginning of the season and a list of tournaments the 2022 V.I. Jaguars Basketball Team will compete in this season. Events and dates are subject to change. The health and safety of all of our players come first.
